LiviPod vs LiveFine: Automatic Pill Dispenser Comparison

Checked October 7, 2026. LiviPods publishes this page. LiveFine figures are quoted from LiveFine's own catalog and user guides and carry numbered sources. "Not published" means we did not find it on the pages we read on October 7, 2026.

The short answer

With a LiveFine, a person fills every slot by hand, every cycle. Most LiveFine models are a 28 slot carousel, and all the pills for one dose time go into the same slot. LiveFine's own guide says "The pill compartments should accommodate all necessary medications in a single slot."3 On 28 slot models, a fill lasts 28 days at one dose a day, 7 days at four doses a day and 4 days at six.3 On their nine dose models it is 3 days at nine.4

With LiviPods, nobody sorts anything. Each pod holds one type of pill, poured in loose from the bottle, and a pod holds about 150 ml, roughly 90 to 150 average size pills, fewer for large capsules.11 Pods can sit in one room or several, and a caregiver can dispense remotely when you grant permission.11

LiveFine lists dispensers starting at $89.99, which buys a carousel you load slot by slot every cycle.1 A LiviPod Starter Set is 3 pods at $293.00, each additional pod is $89.00, and one power adapter and one Fit Kit are included.10

Sorting, with the arithmetic

Take a common routine: five different pills, all taken once a day in the morning.

On a 28 slot LiveFine, that is one dose time a day, so the published cycle is 28 days per fill.3 All five pills for that morning go into one slot together.3 Each fill means placing 5 pills into each of 28 slots, which is 28 x 5 = 140 individual pill placements. At 365 days a year and a 28 day cycle, that is 365 / 28 = 13 fills a year, so 140 x 13 = 1,820 pill placements a year, done by hand, in order, without a mistake.

On LiviPods, that is five pods, one per medication, each refilled by pouring from the bottle.11

Doses per day make it worse. On a 28 slot LiveFine the published cycle drops to 7 days at four doses a day, so a full 28 slot refill every 7 days, which is 365 / 7 = 52 sorting sessions a year.3 A pod is not shortened by dose times. It depends on how many of one tablet you take, because each pod only ever holds that one tablet.11

Why LiviPods

  • Several different medications, or several doses a day. On 28 slot models, a LiveFine fill drops to 7 days at four doses a day and 3 days at nine.3, 4 A pod is not shortened by dose times at all.11
  • Someone else does the filling. 1,820 pill placements a year is the part of this job a pod removes.3, 11
  • You want to know what it holds before you buy it. We publish about 150 ml and roughly 90 to 150 average size pills per pod, fewer for large capsules.11 No LiveFine page or guide we read publishes a per compartment capacity in any unit.3, 4, 5, 6
  • History kept longer than 14 days. On Wi-Fi models, LiveFine records start deleting after 14 days.5, 6 The LiviPod app keeps 90 days of adherence history, and it can be shared and exported.12
  • A routine that changes. Add a pod at $89.00 when a medication is added, up to 10 pods on one power adapter.10 A LiveFine carousel is the size it is: 28 slots on most models, 21 cups on four.7, 8

Picking a model from 22 of them

LiveFine's current dispenser catalog runs to 22 listings, separated by lid color, doses per day and connectivity.1, 2 The catalog itself is inconsistent in places we can point at directly.

  • One product's title says "Frosted Lid" while its first variant is the clear lid.2, 7
  • One Wi-Fi dispenser listing sits on a web address built from the words for a towel warmer.9
  • The catalog lists three Bluetooth models, and the available Bluetooth user guide covers two of the three codes (LVFPDBLTC and LVFPDBLTF).1, 4, 7

Confirm the exact model code on the listing before you buy, and read the guide for that code rather than for the family.

Common questions

Do I have to sort pills with a LiveFine?

Yes. LiveFine's guide says the space marked "2" is where you would put all medications to be dispensed at the second time, and to "Fill each compartment accordingly and then place the carousel back into the dispenser with the dosage ring."3 With LiviPods each pod holds one type of pill, poured in loose from the bottle, so there is no sorting.11

How many pills does a LiveFine slot hold?

We found no capacity figure on the pages and guides we read on October 7, 2026. The guides say each compartment should hold all necessary medications for one dose time in a single slot, but give no pill count, no volume and no pill size limit.3, 5 LiviPod publishes about 150 ml per pod, roughly 90 to 150 average size pills, fewer for large capsules.11

How long does one LiveFine fill last?

It depends entirely on dose times, not days. LiveFine publishes 28 days at one dose a day, 14 at two, 9 at three, 7 at four, 5 at five and 4 at six on LVFRAPD5, and 3 days at nine doses a day on the nine dose models. Both are 28 slot models.3, 4

How long does LiveFine keep dose history?

On Wi-Fi models the app marks each dose on time, late or missed, and the guide says "Records will start to delete after 14 days."5, 6 The LiviPod app keeps 90 days of adherence history, which can be shared and exported.12
